Like to play Chess? Several libraries in the Westmoreland County Libraries system will be hosting chess tournaments starting February 21st and going until April 4th.
There will be 3 divisions:
Junior Division: 4th grade and under
Intermediate Division: 5th through 8th grade
Senior Division: 9th through 12th grade
First and second place winners in each division at each local tournament will be invited to a County-Wide Chess Tournament on April 11th at St. Edwards Church in Herminie (click for location).
The New Florence Community Library will not be hosting a tournament, but anyone interested can sign up at a participating library. These libraries (with links to their websites) include: Delmont, Greensburg-Hempfield, Ligonier, Murrysville, Penn Area, Norwin, Sewickley Township, and Vandergrift.
